As the summer heat peaks, San Diego gears up for an exciting celebration with the fifth annual Freedom Fest set to take place on Saturday, July 5. This year, the event at Fit Social in Belmont Park promises to be a vibrant blend of music, community, and festive spirit, headlined by none other than the iconic rapper Nelly. Known for his chart-topping hits and engaging performances, Nelly will take to the stage alongside a lineup that includes Shiba San, Kaleena Zanders, and Indigo Valet.

Organized by Almost Nakey, a local event production company founded by sixth-generation La Jolla native Liv Johnson, Freedom Fest is more than just a fun outing. Johnson emphasizes that the festival celebrates the heart and soul of San Diego. “Our festivals are about the people of San Diego. We love our city, and Freedom Fest is about honoring them on Fourth of July weekend,” says Johnson.
Starting as a small swimwear brand, Almost Nakey has grown to host some of the largest festivals in the area. Johnson's vision came to life back in 2020, with their inaugural Freedom Fest bringing together thousands of attendees and local talent.
